Upcoming Events:

How to Study the Bible — TBC 102 — May 9 at 6:30 p.m.
The pastor will lead us in a time of exploration of how to study the Bible. This class will lay the foundation for study examining biblical inspiration, how the Bible came to be, various English versions of the Bible, types of literature that make up the Bible, etc. as well as what tools are available to assist in Bible study. The goal is to help the participants get more out of their own Bible study, whether as a student or in preparation as a teacher.

Spanish Speaking Bible Study — May 9 at 7:30 p.m. (and every Wednesday evening)
A Spanish speaking Bible study group currently meeting at Duraleigh Woods apartment complex off Glenwood Avenue will begin meeting at Tabernacle for study  and worship. Pray for this group as they reach out to the Spanish speaking in our community.

Missions and Ministry:

Durham Bulls Tickets
Tabernacle Learning Center is selling baseball ticket vouchers for Durham Bulls games. The voucher cost is $9, with half of the cost going to TLC as a fundraiser. The voucher may be exchanged for a Bull’s game Sunday through Thursday during the entire season. The TLC has scheduled May 24 as a day to go to a game together, and we are invited to go we them. If your Sunday School class or other church group plans on going to a game this season, this is the best price you will get for a ticket. The vouchers will be available for purchase through the end of May. Let’s help TLC and have some fun, too.

Linen Closet The closet is run by Tabernacle and is housed at First Presbyterian. The closet is open through March. We continue to have many requests for sheets, towels, and blankets. It would be helpful to indicate the size on the sheets. Place your items outside the coffee area as you come in the main entrance. See Roberta Cyrus if you would like to work at the Linen Closet.

Food Pantry Collection Baskets Please place your nonperishable food items in the baskets at the entrances to the church. Your contributions will be distributed to people in our community.

Volunteers of America Maple Court Housing for Vets Needs: Happily several men are moving into their own housing and need furniture including full-size mattresses. Contact Joy Hager through the church office for more information.

Donate your old Printer Ink Cartridges: The WMU is collecting inkjet and laser toner cartridges for the Baptist Children's Home. Deposit them in the box in the adult wing. This is an ongoing project, so keep printing and donating!

Delivery of Videotapes to Homebound: Contact the Pastor if you are willing to be part of the team that delivers DVDs to our homebound. Our hope is that you would not only deliver the DVD but also sit with the homebound person as you both view it.
